From Dec. 7 to Dec 12 2009 BOBC Vice-president Jianwei Zhang and Senior Manager of products and farms department Jiecheng Pan inspected BOBC organic rice base located in the northeast of Heilongjiang. They also paid a visit to Mr.Guijun Dong and Mr.Wei Wang, both serving as director of Heilongjiang Reclamation Bureau, Mr.Gang Yin, head of Jiansanjiang Reclamation Region, Director Wang and Director Yue from Nongjiang Farm. Dr.Zhang and Director Wang signed the contract for technique cooperation in organic rice cultivation.
Jiecheng Pan exchanged views with Mr.Dengfang Ma, head of Cooperatives for BOBC Organic Rice Cultivation, on how to further help co-operatives to improve the technologies for organic rice farming and the details about establishing BOBC PhD workstation in the farm.
BOBC organic koshihkali rice base is located in Jiansanjiang plain region, Heilongjiang reclamation area. Currently, the entire reclamation region for organic rice growing covers 2750 acres of land and 305 cooperative members. The base is established and managed in compliance with the requirements for organic technical regulations under the guidance of BOBC Organic Product Quality Standards. The rice cultivation is free from pesticides, chemical fertilizers and transgenic seeds.
Jiansanjiang plain sits in the northeast corner of Heilongjiang and is regarded as the first reclamation land to see the sunrise in China, also known as three river delta as Heilong River, Wusuli River and Songhua River running through the area. The land is enriched with premium clean water irrigations and contains higher percentage of organic contents. Jiansanjiang plain is one of the only three black soil land in the word.The above the 46th degree latitude made the area longer growing period and crops higher in solid contents thus rice higher in quality.
